What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is an FDA-approved treatment used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. Dysport® works by temporarily reducing muscle activity in the treated area and is performed through a series of small injections.

Depending on an individual’s goals and treatment plan, Dysport® may also be used in other cosmetic treatment areas, including forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, lip lines, lip flip, chin dimpling, and neck bands. Treatment recommendations are based on an individual’s goals, anatomy, and consultation findings.

How many units of Dysport® will I need?

What’s the difference between Dysport® and Botox® Cosmetic?

Dysport® and Botox® Cosmetic are both FDA-approved prescription treatments that temporarily reduce muscle activity to improve the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. While they work in similar ways, they are different products and use different dosing units.

As a general guideline, approximately 3 units of Dysport® provide a similar treatment effect to 1 unit of Botox® Cosmetic. Because Dysport® and Botox® Cosmetic use different dosing units, the recommended number of units will differ between the two treatments.

Does Dysport® hurt?

Treatment involves a series of small injections and is generally well tolerated by most patients. The injection portion of treatment is typically completed in approximately 10-20 minutes; however, appointment length may vary depending on your individual consultation, treatment plan, and goals.

Is there downtime after Dysport®?

Dysport® typically requires little to no downtime for most patients, allowing many individuals to return to normal daily activities after treatment.

When will I see results from Dysport®?

Results are not immediate. Some patients may begin noticing improvement within several days; however, full results can take up to 14 days to develop. For this reason, patients are encouraged to allow a full two weeks before evaluating their final results.

We recommend a follow-up appointment approximately 14 days after treatment, especially for first-time patients, to evaluate the final result, answer any questions, and ensure you are happy with your treatment outcome. If any adjustments are needed, they can be discussed and addressed at that time.

How long does Dysport® last?

Results vary, but many patients enjoy results for approximately 3 to 4 months. Individual results and treatment longevity may vary.
